SUYL: DIY Projects

Last Summer my husband and I sold our old house and moved into our current home. We have only been here for about 8 months but our to do list/wish list is starting to get long. We knew when we purchased our house that we were going to have to do some DIY projects and updating. Since we’ll hopefully be here for a while that’s okay. One of the things that needed to go was the outdated and ugly wallpaper in the guest bathroom and kid’s bathroom. One day while the kids were at school I got a wild hair and decided to test their bathroom to see what we were up against. I figured if it was going to be a tough task at least its in a bathroom no one ever sees.

I sent my husband the above picture with the caption…. “So.. This happening”. I’m sure he wasn’t too thrilled when he saw this…haha. Thankfully the wallpaper came off in sheets. It only took a few days to rip all the wallpaper and remove a few stubborn pieces. With the spots that were a little more difficult I used a solution of fabric softener and water in a spray bottle. This worked great and the remaining pieces came right off. Once we sanded a few places and fill in some holes it was time to paint!

Here are the before and after pictures.

I am so thrilled with how it turned out. I would just walk by and stare for a few minutes. Couldn’t believe how much bigger and brighter it looked.
